I drove by the tornado struck area in Memphis today.
Out of respect for the residents, who got their houses damaged or destroyed, I never entered those neighborhoods. Pictures on TV have shown them abundantly already.
The recovery crews of MLGW and fire department among others have done a tremendous job, most of the destroyed power lines are replaced only a day after the tornado hit.

A piece of upholstered furniture is wrapped around the pole in the foreground, a tarp is hanging from a tree, another tree is split. There is insulation material everywhere on the ground.

This is the southwest corner of the mall, where at the northeast corner at Sears' store a wall collapsed. That part of the area is still off limits to nosy photographers.

A boarded up store at Winchester.

This concrete base for a sign simply broke and the heavy steel pole is blocking the street.

A pine tree barely missed the house.

Trees that snapped off.

In some areas, where the residents had all windows blown out and also lost power, the houses were left empty over night. The temperature was dropping to near freezing after the storm.
They came back the next day only to discover that looters had carried away computers, microwave ovens, TVs etc, anything of value.
Total lack of compassion and sense of decency.
