The taller of these two gentlemen was our local David Letterman and Fred Astaire in one person. He would perform some kind of tap dance on the stage in our primitive Dance Hall. After his dance number he presented his new, very mean, but also very funny satiric songs about outstanding members of our little village. The songs dealt with embarrassing situations, smaller, or for that matter bigger scandals, true or false.
More than once he would have to pay his victims or face legal procedures. He went home after having paid the penalty and wrote new songs about his ordeals, even funnier and meaner.

His banjo was really a guitar where he had taken off two strings.

I was too young to experience much of this firsthand, but he was famous or infamous, perhaps.

A bit crazy but funny.

He built his own motor boat; an upscaled version of a rowboat, not a small vessel, I wish I knew what happened to that craft, it was very, very special.
