Last Saturday, as we were driving home from downtown, my wife noticed fire engines and some trailers outside the library.
It was a mobile exhibition and fund raiser for a memorial, a park and a museum to honor all victims at 911.
We went through the exhibition. It was refreshingly free from sentimentality, just a quiet reminder of that day.
I noticed that we both were very silent long after we left. That chill, that you experience at funerals, where a near relative or a young person has passed away, held its grip for hours.
But another thought or memory was also brought back, that sense of unity and belonging, that I believe we all felt during the following weeks and months after those horrible events six years ago.
Please, let us get back to that insight again.
The infighting between left and right, right now, is painful and destructive.
