I find symbolism in the image to the right.
Even the flag seems embarrassed
Now I don't know if Memphis is worse hit than other cities
when it comes to billboard pollution, but it is bad.

The sad thing is, that I get so used to them, I take the ugly signs for granted.

Imagine coming to Trafalgar Square in London
and see all these informative signs next to Admiral Nelson.

Broke
but not broken

from TT, Sweden.

The man had made his wife's father real mad.
So, when he went for a business trip from Sweden to Florida, US, his father-in-law called the FBI and warned that his in-law might have connections to al-Qaida.
The man was apprehended by the police on arrival in Florida, was kept in custody for a day before he was placed on a flight back to Sweden.
The angry father has been sentenced to 3 months in prison for slander and false accusations.
The newspaper DN.se doesn't tell how the family relations are at present.

Crossing Elvis Presley Blvd on our way to the airport

The old airport is situated across Winchester from Memphis International. I thought I would be able to get some interesting images from inside the building - I was in there a few years ago and saw some old pictures from Memphis' early aviation days- but it was a bit of a disappointment. Here is the entrance, anyway.

The roof on a hangar shows damage from the storm that hit Memphis a couple of weeks ago

After a final look at the control tower at Memphis airport, we kept going west on Winchester.

Waiting for the next bus.

Saturday shopping

This far south and west feels like a suburb or sheer country, although it really is part of Memphis city.

Heading north again

I don't know the exact nature of this service

I meant to take a better photo of this scenery, but a man was standing in my way all the way through our red light at this crossing

The same house from a little bit different angle, we had to go, we had a green light. What is amazing to me though, is that I never saw the big red sign when I took the snapshot above. I only saw it when I came home and as you can see, the sign is gone here, just a few seconds after the previous picture

The neighborhoods, perhaps contradicted by the sign I previously mentioned, have an air of resignation here.

Not Walmart, really

Some charred remains, just dumped on the sidewalk

This looks better ( we are getting closer to downtown Memphis, too).

How about 69.9 MPG?

Would that ease the pain at the pump?

Volkswagen develops new concept hybrid. And it looks good, too.

Only a few photos from my afternoon
It's my wife's turn to come down with the flu, so I stayed home
and sat out in the backyard for, I believe, two hours, simply enjoying the warm day.
The squirrels are back and this one seemed to try to stare me down,
he sat like that for minutes. Funny animals.

The sun set and gave the clouds a beautiful color

The trip along Elvis Presley Blvd. was not good, so I have taken it out.
Here are a few photos form the same area.
